NYU Metro Center focuses on driving equity and access in school settings--especially when confronting issues of difference across race, gender, gender identity, national origin, socioeconomic status, and other identities historically marginalized in educational spaces. Our comprehensive programs and projects serve a wide range of constituencies and our persistence of vision, mission, and values have forged NYU Metro Center into a nationally recognized leader in educational equity.

Research and Evaluation 

Our research and evaluation teams conduct and support rigorous original research related to educational equity. 

Center for Policy, Research, and Evaluation

Conducts applied research and evaluation studies focused on promoting positive educational outcomes for youth, and understanding the influence of both schools and communities on those outcomes.

Mindful Education Lab

Oversees two parallel but connected programs - research and teacher training.

Project for the Advancement of our Common Humanity (PACH)

A think-and-do tank that draws from the science of human connection in order to create a more just and humane world.

School Change and Community Engagement (SCCE)

Our SCCE team supports youth, families, community members, educators, & schools to build robust environments that foster student success. 

Center for Strategic Solutions

Provides tactical support, applied research, and collaborative problem-solving to schools in the United States and abroad as well as agencies outside education

The Education Justice Research and Organizing Collaborative (EJ-ROC)

The Education Justice Research and Organizing Collaborative (EJ-ROC) brings together researchers, data and policy analysts, and community organizers to provide critical research, data, policy and strategic support for the education justice movement.

Innovations in Equity and Systemic Change

The Innovations in Equity and Systemic Change (IESC) provides professional development, technical assistance, and consultancy to educational institutions in general and special education.

Nest Support Project

The goal of the Nest Support Project is to partner with public schools to establish inclusive cultures and advance the development and implementation of educational practices for autistic learners.

NYS Statewide Language Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network

Offers technical assistance, professional development and resource materials that strengthens the teaching and learning of students of English as a new language, and students of languages other than English.

Youth Development and College Readiness (YDCR)

Our YDCR team provides young people with tools, mentorship, college prep knowledge, and career exploration skills to transition to the next phase of their development. 

College Prep Academy/1199 WorkForce

Supplemental college-preparatory program focused on academic enrichment, tutoring, mentoring, college readiness, career planning, and professional internship experience

Liberty Partnerships Program

Provides comprehensive services designed to meet the academic, psychological, social and other developmental needs of high-risk students.

Metro Core

The Metro Core team multiplies the strengths of the Metro Center's three units and eleven subunits to facilitate projects to expand capacity-building offerings for education researchers, policymakers, and leaders committed to the work. 

Voices in Urban Education (VUE)

VUE is an open-access journal that brings together diverse education stakeholders, including leading education writers and thinkers, as well as essential but underrepresented voices in educational scholarship.
